“Interreligious dialogue in the face of exclusionary identitarianism.”

FICRT sponsors a UCM Summer Course on interreligious dialogue at El Escorial

The Foundation for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance is sponsoring the course “Interreligious Dialogue versus Exclusionary Identitarianism”, which will take place on July 5 and 6 at the Real Centro Universitario Escorial-María Cristina.

This course is part of the program of the 34th edition of the Summer Courses of the Complutense University of Madrid. International government representatives, religious authorities and academic researchers will reflect on the importance and possibilities of interreligious dialogue in the face of the dynamics of exclusionary identitarianism during the different sessions proposed. The first session will be held on Monday, July 5, by Dr. Fernando Amérigo Cuervo-Arango, professor of Ecclesiastical Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and director of the course. The course will take place entirely in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a town that, year after year, becomes an academic, social and civil reference during the month of July thanks to the UCM Summer Courses, and which in this edition will also be an enclave of interreligious dialogue and culture of tolerance.

Among the various speakers who will help us to deepen our understanding of the keys to interreligious dialogue in the face of the challenges of the 21st century, we can highlight the interventions of Dr. Omar Habtur Alderie, Director General of the Fatwa Council of the United Arab Emirates and Executive Director of Islamic Affairs of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (UAE), and Msgr. Carlos Osoro Sierra, Cardinal-Archbishop of Madrid and Vice President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, which will take place during the morning of Tuesday, July 6.
