The Vice-Dean of International Relations and Research of the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation of the University of Granada, María Manuela Fernández Sánchez, has received at the UGR headquarters the Director General of the Fundación for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance (FICRT), Dr. Musabeh Saeed Alketbi. Aly Tawfik Eldaly, professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Granada, and Rashed Al Khatri, secretary of the Board of Trustees of the FICRT Foundation in Spain, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Professor María Manuela Fernández welcomed the FICRT general director, and applauded the work of this foundation, aimed at promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue and consolidating the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace. In addition, he valued the proposal to sign a collaboration agreement between the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation of the University of Granada and the FICRT Foundation.
Both parties explored possible ways to strengthen the collaboration between the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada and FICRT, especially with regard to the promotion of Arabic language teaching in Spain.
Alketbi expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Dean for International Relations and Research for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, highlighting the priority that FICRT gives to the teaching of the Arabic language in the different Spanish universities. Musabeh Saeed Alketbi has welcomed a future collaboration and partnership between the Foundation and the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation of the University of Granada.
