H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, took part in the launch ceremony of the “Solidarity for the Future” initiative, held today at the Headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, under the slogan “Scientific Research Cannot Wait.” The event gathered representatives of regional and international organisations, alongside leading experts and researchers, and was held under the patronage of the League of Arab States and its Secretary-General, H.E. Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

In his remarks, Al Jarwan stressed that the initiative represents a significant Arab step forward in supporting countries affected by conflict, by helping to strengthen their scientific and research institutions. He noted that genuine peace is not merely the silencing of weapons, but also the protection of scientific talent, and the empowerment of universities and innovation centres to contribute to rebuilding stable and prosperous societies.

Al Jarwan called for expanding joint Arab research scholarships, boosting opportunities for young researchers, and enhancing the exchange of scientific expertise among universities and research centres in the Arab region and beyond. He also underscored the importance of involving parliaments and legislative bodies in creating a legal environment that safeguards researchers and supports the advancement of scientific work.

He concluded by reaffirming the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace’s readiness to build partnerships that advance peace, security, and sustainable development through knowledge and research, expressing his appreciation to the League of Arab States and the Association of Arab Scientific Research Councils for sponsoring and supporting this initiative.
