the Master’s Degree in Tolerance and World Peace Studies, initiated by the
San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia
.
This is a postgraduate study program that will be taught in an in-person version, on the UCAM campus, in English, and in an online version in Spanish, especially for students from Latin America.
Under this agreement, the FICRT Foundation will award a series of scholarships for students interested in pursuing this Master’s Degree on Tolerance and World Peace. This is one of the first initiatives of the Foundation under the mandate of its new president, H.E. Ahmed Al Jarwan, who expressed his willingness to sign new collaboration agreements with different Spanish universities and academic institutions, “to spread the culture of tolerance and peace”.
Regarding the agreement signed with UCAM, Al Jarwan pointed out that “we will work together to instill values in our new generation, updating this agreement and extending it to Europe and Latin America”.
José Luis Mendoza, Director of Institutional Relations and signatory of the document on behalf of UCAM, pointed out that “not everyone puts the focus, academically and internationally, on peace and tolerance, due to the existence of many conflicts of interest in the world. Therefore, it is part of our mission, as a Catholic university, to support, embrace and promote this culture of peace.”.
Mendoza also announced the opening of a new UCAM campus in Madrid, starting in 2024, which will facilitate relations between the two institutions and the development of new collaborative initiatives.
In his speech to close the signing ceremony, the president of the FICRT Foundation pointed out that this organization is committed to support the promotion of the values of human fraternity: “achieving global coexistence and peace is the objective of our Foundation, which is committed to its role as a cultural institution, in line with the content of the Document on Human Fraternitysupporting scientific research related to our purposes and seeking to spread its message through the organization of scientific and cultural meetings, congresses and seminars, as well as interfaith dialogue sessions and debates that seek to materialize the message of peace, mutual understanding and acceptance of the other”..
To this end, Al Jarwan particularly valued “constructive cooperation between universities, religious and cultural entities, and collaboration with all religions, establishing channels of dialogue between them, analyzing all issues relating to tolerance and coexistence, both in the past, present and future, through the study of history and contemporary reality.”.
