The GCTP and the Indonesian Parliament signed a collaborative action agreement.

The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, and the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, His Excellency Mr. Bambang Suisatiyo, signed an agreement of cooperation and joint action in order to establish cooperation between the Council and the Indonesian Parliament in the areas of tolerance and peace in Indonesia, Asia, and the entire world. Her Excellency Ms. Yeni Wahid, a member of the Constituent Assembly of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and Her Excellency Dave Laksono, a member of the Indonesian Parliament and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, were present at the signature.

H.E. the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament greeted Al Jarwan and his accompanying delegation in his office at the Indonesian Parliament’s headquarters in Jakarta and reaffirmed the support of his country and its parliament for the Council’s goals and initiatives to promote tolerance and peace around the world.  The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, for his part, provided a quick overview of the Council’s most recent activities and efforts in East Asia and around the world.

The agreement seeks to strengthen bilateral collaboration in the areas of tolerance and peace, in a way that promotes the spread of the values of tolerance, human fraternity, love, and peace, as well as the rejection of violence, extremism, and terrorism. The agreement also stipulates the appointment of an Indonesian parliamentarian to the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, which currently comprises more than 90 parliamentarians from more than 90 nations. At the conclusion of the meeting, mementos were exchanged.
