President of North Macedonia praises the efforts and initiatives of the GCTP

Her Excellency Gordana Celia Novska Davkova, President of the Republic of North Macedonia, praised the role played by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in promoting a culture of dialogue and coexistence and in establishing parliamentary diplomacy as a bridge for understanding between peoples and nations.

This came during Her Excellency’s reception of the delegation from the World Council for Tolerance and Peace, which is participating in the proceedings of the 14th session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Council, in the capital Skopje, in the presence of a number of parliamentary speakers and international parliamentary delegations participating in the session.

Her Excellency the Speaker welcomed the participating delegations, emphasising that peace, tolerance and dialogue have become a humanitarian and political necessity to address the escalation of conflicts and tensions in the world.

She referred to her previous visit to the UAE and her participation in the World Government Summit in Dubai, expressing her appreciation for the warm welcome she received and praising the development experience she witnessed, which combines the preservation of identity with openness to technology and modernity.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Her Excellency the President of the Republic of North Macedonia for the warm welcome and her commitment to the success of the 14th session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, emphasising that the world is going through a delicate phase that requires the promotion of the values of peace, dialogue and understanding among peoples, and support for parliamentary and diplomatic efforts aimed at safeguarding international security and stability.

Al-Jarwan also addressed the brutal Iranian attacks targeting the Arab Gulf states and neighbouring countries, affirming the World Council for Tolerance and Peace’s rejection of any aggression that infringes upon state sovereignty or threatens the security of civilians and critical infrastructure, and stressing the need to respect international law and the importance of safeguarding freedom of international navigation and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. He also called for prioritising political and diplomatic solutions to maintain stability in the region and the world.

The 14th session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, held in Skopje, is discussing a number of issues related to promoting tolerance and peace, and the role of parliaments in formulating future policies that support coexistence, stability and sustainable development.
