On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Tolerance on November 16, the Fundación for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance (FICRT) organized a meaningful event at the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque (Albayzín – Granada), as part of its 2024 annual activities. The highlight of the event was a lecture exploring the concept of tolerance from a religious perspective, delivered in both Arabic and Spanish to ensure accessibility for a diverse audience. The event drew attendees from various backgrounds, including local residents of the historic Albayzín neighborhood, mosque worshipers, and visitors to the area.
The lecture focused on the importance of tolerance in promoting peaceful coexistence and understanding among different cultures and religious communities. Speakers emphasized the role of faith in fostering mutual respect, empathy, and dialogue in an increasingly interconnected world. By offering the lecture in both Arabic and Spanish, the Foundation ensured that the message reached a broad spectrum of people, reinforcing the spirit of inclusivity and unity.
The event provided a unique opportunity for the local community to engage in thought-provoking discussions on the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for diversity. It also highlighted the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting social harmony and intercultural dialogue. The gathering was well-received by attendees, many of whom expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to reflect on these vital issues in the context of religion and community life.
This initiative is part of the FICRT Foundation’s broader efforts to encourage tolerance, understanding and peace-building, both locally in Granada and within the wider global community.
